On Tuesday, April 9, 2019, this year’s Tourism Awards were held at the Foundation of the Hellenic World, aiming to reward innovative businesses that, with their action, promote this important sector for the country. Gem Travel, through Accessible Rhodes, was awarded the Golden Prize in the “Accessible Tourism” category.
This effort concerns the collaboration of “Asklepiades” with Gem Travel, which aims to provide equipment, facilitation, travel and information services to people with disabilities who want to visit Rhodes for their holidays. Visitors with disabilities are a very important category of tourists who still do not accept the benefits they should and it is everyone’s duty, first as a society and then as entrepreneurs to develop. Accessible Rhodes in the first four months of its operation in 2019 has already brought many visitors to the island, reinforcing the message and bringing change.
To advance this effort, operators, businesses and the Rhodian people have to embrace the idea, and gradually through modernization of facilities and services, Rhodes becomes accessible to everyone.
This effort, as demonstrated by this year’s awards, is appreciated by important tourism personalities and if it continues, it will be a solid example of humanity so that the whole country becomes more friendly to all.
